Location: Approximately 35 miles east of Fresno; follow Belmont Avenue until it becomes Trimmer Springs Road
Storage: Pine Flat Dam, built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1954, captures 1 million acre-feet of water from the Kings River
Setting: Rolling, grassy foothills dotted with blue and live oaks; wildflowers abundant in the spring; elevation 952 feet
Activities: Boating, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking and water sports
Facilities: A commercial marina offering boat and slip rentals, gasoline, camping, and fishing supplies; four boat ramps (Deer Creek, Island Park, Lakeview and Trimmer); five public campgrounds, including some with toilets and showers; numerous picnic areas, some accessable by boat
Fishing: Largemouth and spotted bass, rainbow trout, kokanee, crappie and catfish
Trails: Blue Oak Nature Trail (3/4 mile) is an easy, self-guided walk; Edison Point Trail (3.5-mile loop) is geared to hikers and mountain bikers
Fun fact: Lindsays Brian Shishido caught the world-record spotted bass (10.27 pounds) at Pine Flat on April 21, 2001
