Emissions plans aired

TODAY: The California Air Resources Board meets from 9 a.m. to noon on its plans to set an emissions cap for the state's cap-and-trade program. From 1 to 4:30 p.m., the board will discuss an updated economic analysis of AB 32, the landmark measure that requires the state to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. Both sessions are open to the public. Find them in the Sierra Hearing Room at Cal-EPA, 1001 I St., Sacramento.

Panel reviews state IT

WEDNESDAY: The Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review recommended last month that the state agency overseeing the courts open its books on estimates for an overdue computer project that The Bee found could cost close to $2 billion. The committee meets Wednesday to consider "State IT Projects: Lessons Learned." The hearing starts at 10 a.m. in the Capitol's Room 437.

Medi-Cal redesign eyed

WEDNESDAY: The Senate Health Committee takes a look at how to redesign Medi-Cal, the state's health insurance program for the poor, to save money and improve services. Legislation enacted last month imposes a hospital fee to help leverage more than $2 billion in federal funds to help cover the costs of caring for low-income patients. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Capitol's Room 4203.
