It's a huge weekend of touring music in the Fresno area. And while Jay-Z is the big centerpiece, there's a lot more to see.

Let's have a look:

Cage the Elephant: Chances are you've heard these rookie rockers on your radio or TV. They had a hit this year with "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked," which is a good example of their Southern-tinged, almost-classic-sounding rock 'n' roll. The band released its self-titled debut album earlier this year and have been pegged as rising stars.

They're playing at Audie's Olympic, 1426 N. Van Ness Ave., at 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Details: (559) 233-3733

Exene Cervenka: Cervenka is a legend, best known from her days with iconic L.A. punk band X. But these days she's taking a more folksy turn.

Cervenka recently released "Something Gone," her first solo album since 1991. It's gained comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Patti Smith. She's at Audie's Olympic tonight. Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10.

Leo Kottke: In this corner, we have a guitar virtuoso. Leo Kottke returns to Fresno tonight for a date at Tower Theatre.

Kottke is a sharp instrumentalist, whose acoustic guitar repertoire includes work with Los Lobos, Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett. If you're looking for guitar wizardry, this is it.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets cost $33.50 and $43.50. Details: (559) 485-9050.

Morning Teleportation: Young Portland rock band Morning Teleportation has the distinction of being discovered and signed by Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse.

That puts them in the company of artists such as The Shins and Iron & Wine. Only time will tell whether Morning Teleportation gets as big as those acts, but people in Visalia are getting an early look at the band, which plays an all-ages show at 9:30 tonight at Howie & Son's Pizza, 2430 S. Mooney Blvd. Cover is $5.

They'll also open for Cage the Elephant in Fresno on Sunday.

Langhorne Slim: A lot of people like to compare Langhorne Slim to a young Cat Stevens. There are worse things to say about an up-and-coming folk singer.

Thus far, Slim has played Lollapalooza, made the late-night talk show rounds and recently released a new album, "Be Set Free." He'll be at Visalia's Cellar Door, 101 W. Main St., at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. L.A. folk band Dawes is also on the bill. Cover is $7.

Kitka: Kitka is an eight-voice ensemble of Eastern European vocalists who take the lullaby to a place most listeners haven't heard before.

Channeling their Russian, Greek and Armenian backgrounds, the ladies of Kitka turn the happy, sweet lullaby upside down. Using their acapella vocals and worldly influences, they sing lullabies that are haunting and stirring, which ought to please fans of chamber music.

Kitka performs at 8 p.m. Sunday at the California State University, Fresno concert hall. Tickets cost $20, $18 for seniors and $5 for Fresno State students.
