Vitals: Clovis West, sophomore, 100 HH/300 LH/HJ

She’s qualified because: A combination of training setbacks and commitment to volleyball prohibited her from approaching a freshman season that saw her triple gold in the section while being named The Bee’s girls Athlete of the Year.

But she nonetheless impacted the section finals by winning the 100 hurdles (14.91) – No. 4 all time for a section sophomore – placing second in the high jump (5-4) and third in the 300 hurdles (45.24).

He said it: “When everything goes OK, it’s easy to be a great athlete. Things went wrong and she showed still showed great character and her ability to be a great athlete. She worked toward long-time goals and sacrificed results through more than three-quarters of the season.” – Golden Eagles coach Martin Palavicini.
