She’s qualified because: Placed third in the section 200 (25.11) and fourth in the 100 (12.26), but, more impressively, blistered an opening leg in a 400 relay (46.54) that finished fifth in the state with the second-best time in section history.

He said it: “Jessica has been an integral part of our team, giving us stability and leadership. She’s a leader by example, not flashy or selfish. Her development has been steady and gradual, always guided by determination. In the last half of the season, she pulled the 400 relay team together with an explosive start and aggressive curve running.
