She’s qualified because: Placed second in the section (2:13.51) and, with a season best of 2:12.56, ranks ninth all time in the section for all classes and No. 5 for a sophomore.
Chelsea Janzen
Vitals: Buchanan, junior, 1,600/3,200
She’s qualified because: Helped drive the Bears within a point of the section girls title by finishing third in the 3,200 (10:53.97) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:01.60). The 3,200 time is 14th all time in the section and No. 7 for a junior. The 1,600 mark is 20th-best in section history.
Carrington Mahr
Vitals: Buchanan, senior, HJ/TJ
She’s qualified because: Scored double bronze in the section finals by clearing 5-2 in the high jump and leaping 36-8 1/2 in the triple jump — No. 19 all time in the section.
Mariah Riddlesprigger
Vitals: Bullard, junior, 100/200/400 relay
She’s qualified because: Placed third in the section 100 (12.18), sixth in the 200 (25.46) and ran the second leg on the Knights’ state fifth-place 400 relay. Her 100 time is No. 9 all time for a section junior.
Dominique Whittington
Vitals: Lemoore, sophomore, 100/200/400/400 relay
She’s qualified because: The class of Tulare-Kings counties sprints, she placed second in the section 400 (56.32), ran the section Nos. 5 and 8 best times of the season in the 200 (25.19) and 100 (12.3), and anchored a Tigers 400 relay that finished fourth in the section (48.84). Her 400 time is No. 6 in section history.
