High water benefits boaters
Contrary to widespread reports of a drought, there should be enough snowpack in the Sierra to ensure most Central California reservoirs will have plenty of water from late spring into early summer.
That's great news for local boaters, who have been frustrated the past two years by low water levels caused by below-average rainfall.
While the Department of Water Resources recently estimated the statewide snowpack at 72% of normal, it hasn't prevented Millerton Lake from filling at a rapid rate.

Toni Wooten is the confidential secretary for the newsroom. She joined The Bee in September 1995.

She's qualified because: Earned All-Tri-River Athletic Conference honors while hitting .417 on the season with nine doubles, a triple, four home runs and 30 RBIs.
Her on-base percentage was .457 and she had a .656 slugging percentage. A tough out, Gresham only struck out seven times in 96 at-bats.
Primarily a third baseman, Gresham also pitched early in the season for the Golden Eagles. She has signed to play at Ohio State.
