Need to know: At 6-7, a threat from the perimeter and inside the block, the All-Tri-River Athletic Conference player averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals while powering the 22-9 Grizzlies to a second-place finish in the league and runner-up in D-I.

In the most all-around performance of the D-I championship, he delivered 18 points, eight rebounds and six steals as Central lost 66-65 to Edison in a game the Grizzlies led with 0.5 seconds remaining. He also had 22 points in their 66-65 nonleague overtime win over the Tigers Jan. 6. Two weeks later, he took over with a 17-point, 13-rebound effort as Central rallied from a 20-5 deficit to conquer then-No. 2 Clovis West 48-45 in the TRAC.

“He developed a reputation of being able to close out shots, of being a closer,” Grizzlies coach Loren LeBeau says of the player better known as Rocky. “If he gets the ball anywhere near the paint, he’s able to finish. He developed his outside game this year. He can shoot the 3 and get to the rack. Not only that, he wants to play point; he can distribute the ball. Basically, he’s got every facet of the game covered. And, at 6-7, he’s able to guard a jet point guard and, on the other end, a 6-10 [DeAndre] Medlock [of Clovis West]. That’s pretty versatile.”
